We are pleased to invite you to become a member of the Board of Directors of the Bethlehem Youth Hockey Association. As a member of the BYHA board, you will have the opportunity to help to shape the course of the organization now and for years to come.  We are looking for board members with fresh, outside-the-box ideas.   BYHA has a lot going on and we can really use your help. 

Coaches and past hockey players can and do make great Board members, but neither is a requirement.   6/8/10U parents or grandparents: Joining while your player is young is a great way to understand the landscape of youth hockey and what is to come.

Some details on the Board structure and roles:

• There are eleven (11) elected members. 
• There are four (4) officers: President, Vice-President/Hockey Ops, Treasurer and Secretary.
• There are a variety of other Board positions key to making each season a reality: Registrar, ACE Coordinator, ADM Coordinator, Master Scheduler, Referee Coordinator, Goaltending Coordinator, Fundraising Coordinator, Scholarships, Equipment Manager, Disciplinary Committee and others.
• Each elected Board Member serves a two-year term. 
  • Each year 5 or 6 Board positions are subject to election so that there is not complete turnover. 
• Any BYHA member can apply for a position regardless of whether it is currently filled.
• The President has the authority to appoint 2 additional members each to 1-year terms. These positions will be vacant for the 2023-24 season.
• When a two-year term expires – that Board member has the option to run for election again or exit from the board. 
• The Board tries to meet (or zoom) once per month in the evenings for around an hour and a half, however, your most important work will occur outside these meetings. 
• Open Elections will be held at the end of May.  Elections are open to any current member of BYHA (even if you are not looking to join the board – you can come, listen to what is going on and vote).

It is our goal for the Board and its work to become familiar with all BYHA families, demonstrating that your questions and concerns do matter, are heard, discussed, and that we do our level best to answer.
